Here’s a way to relieve stress using a very simple technique.
Although the cause and effects of stress will vary from person to person, stress is always accompanied by an unpleasant feeling in the body. Our tendency is to resist or ignore this physical sensation, but this only serves to increase the stress.
Fortunately, nature has given us a number of anti-stress points on our bodies we can use quickly and easily to relieve stress. In traditional Chinese medicine (TCM), one of these is called “Shen men” or “The Gate of Heaven”.
Practitioners of the ancient arts of TCM teach us that engaging this point by rubbing it with a finger brings celestial energy to the body. Shen men is a deep point that can be used to decrease stress, boost energy flow and strengthen the overall health of your body.
So the next time you experience somatic (body) signs of stress, such as sleep disturbance, muscle tension and aches, fatigue, headache, gastrointestinal symptoms, and fatigue, massage the Shen men while focussing your attention on that part of your body where you feel the stress.
